Marvel Fusion
Description
Who we are
Marvel Fusion, founded in 2019 and based in Munich, is a technology pioneer in the field of safe, clean, and reliable power generation. With the aim of solving one of the biggest problems of humanity, we are developing a completely new type of fusion energy technology that dramatically increases the probability of fusion and builds on recent advances in laser and nanoscience.
Why Marvel Fusion
By joining us, you will be:
Solving one of the most complex technological challenges known to humanity, harnessing Fusion on Earth
Part of a highly purpose-driven team working on providing the world with clean, safe, and abundant energy
Working alongside world-leading scientists and entrepreneurs in the field of Fusion
Part of a start-up where growth on a company and individual level is the default
The impact you will make
Femtosecond optical lasers are an integral part of many of Marvel Fusion’s activities. The Laser Department is developing the next generation of high-power laser systems and collaborates with other laser-based programs, such as the ATLAS 3000 laser at CALA/LMU.
By joining the team in this role, you will be responsible for the improvement, testing, maintenance, operation, and facility integration of advanced laser sources related to MF experiments.
More specifically, you will:
Support the laser team to improve, maintain, and operate the ATLAS 3000 laser system at CALA/LMU
Evaluate and plan maintenance/upgrade activities for the ATLAS 3000 laser systems at CALA/LMU through coordination with LMU and MF
Be the lead representative for MF at the CALA Operations meetings
Provide and coordinate support to other facilities related to MF’s activities
Participate in laser system support for the MF Experimental Physics team as needed
What you bring
Bachelor or Master in Physics, Mechanical or Optical Engineering, or a related field
Experience with pulsed, high-power laser systems (preferably CPA systems), their associated pump sources, wavelength extension devices, and diagnostics
Expertise in integrating ultrafast laser systems into complex scientific experiments including the development of control and diagnostic systems and software
Experience with optical modeling software such as Zemax OpticStudio or CODE V
Curiosity, growth mindset and openness to new ways of doing things
Passion for hands-on work in the lab
Excellent communication skills and a structured working style
Willingness to travel internationally for several weeks to participate in experiment campaigns around the globe
A healthy amount of flexibility, adaptability, and can-do attitude
Fluent in German and English
What we offer
An opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of our planet by making clean, safe, and abundant energy possible
Flexible working hours
A human-centered company culture with supportive colleagues
A great sense of community through team events and fun in and outside the office
A modern office with a lot of collaborative space close to Theresienwiese in Munich
Highly competitive compensation and benefits package
