Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Global Sustainability Manager (m/f/d)
Scope of Position:
In this role, you will integrate sustainability practices into the global COC strategy and operations by collaborating with the different divisions and functions to develop, implement, communicate, market and monitor sustainability strategies and programs. You will report into the Program Director of Sustainability.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Manage the Product Stewardship and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) center of excellence within Corning Optical Communications
- Analyze issues, audit as-is processes, and propose sustainability initiatives considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.
- Lead training sessions or workshops on sustainability practices for employees, customers, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Develop context-based metrics to measure the effectiveness of division sustainability efforts.
- Benchmark customer, competitor, and other organizations demonstrating best practices in sustainability to inform division strategy, methods and targets.
- Conduct sustainability- or environment-related risk assessments.
- Lead new sustainability programs or initiatives.
Travel Requirements:
- Up to 25% domestic and internationally
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
- Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering sciences required.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, environmental management, environmental engineering desired.
- MBA with a sustainability focus desired.
- Certifications: LCA Practitioner (preferred)
Required Years and Area of Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in sustainability field or environmental engineering surrounding strategy development.
- Knowledge of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting and execution of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)
