We are currently looking for a highly motivated and creative Research Engineer (M/F/D) to join our ADVA/Adtran Infrastructure Monitoring team in Munich, while working towards a doctoral degree (phd). Principle duties and essential functions

Research, development, experimentation, and characterization of innovative techniques in the field of optical fiber sensing in passive optical networks

Participate and collaborate with partners in funded research projects

Design Proof-of-Concepts on forward-looking technologies for internal stakeholders

Present research findings in internal and external conferences and work towards a doctoral thesis
Knowledge, skills and experience required
-
Diploma / Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other related area

Knowledge of optical transmission technologies (WDM, QPSK, QAM)

Experience with one or more of the following topics: optical transmission experiments, wireless/OFDM experiments, optical time domain reflectometry, machine learning

Hands-on laboratory experience or simulation experience (e.g. Matlab, VPI Transmission Maker)

Good programming skills (Python, C++, etc.)

Good presentation and communication skills

Innovative, highly motivated team player

Fluent in oral and written English, good to have at least basic German language skills
