Details of the assignment:
A warm and welcoming family of five based in Starnberg, Germany, is urgently seeking a dedicated and experienced English-speaking nanny-governess to care for their three children, aged 8, 6, and 1.5 years. The role will focus on the two older children, as a full-time nanny already looks after their youngest. The position is live-in, with accommodation provided in a comfortable staff house, or it can be live-out. Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 12:00 to 20:00, although this can change when travelling or during the holiday season.
Both parents lead very busy lives, so they are looking for a reliable and confident nanny-governess to take on full responsibility for their older children's daily care. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with similar age groups, providing a nurturing and structured environment for the children.
The two older children are currently at a stage where they can be challenging and occasionally push boundaries. The family is looking for a nanny-governess who can gently guide them through this phase by creating a structured, consistent routine, establishing healthy boundaries, and promoting positive behaviour. The ideal candidate will have a loving and kind approach, offering structure and encouragement to foster respect, trust, and emotional growth.
A strong educational focus is important for this role. The nanny-governess will be responsible for planning engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development. This includes assisting with schoolwork and supporting the children in their extracurricular activities. Flexibility is also key, as the family’s needs can vary, and the nanny-governess should be prepared to adapt to changes in schedules. Additionally, the ability to at least understand German is essential, as it will help in daily communication and integration within the household and with the children's educational activities.
The family occasionally travels and will need a capable nanny-governess who is comfortable taking sole charge of the children when they are away. Previous experience in a sole-charge role is crucial, and the nanny-governess should be confident in managing the children’s routines and well-being independently. Besides, the candidate must be a strong swimmer and comfortable around water.
