The Frankfurt School of Finance and Management is a leading private business school with the following four main pillars of activities: (1) academia (research and degree programs –bachelor’s, master’s, MBA, doctoral); (2), professional and executive education; (3) banking institute programs and (4) international advisory services, providing education, training, policy advice and technical assistance to developing and emerging countries worldwide. Within the scope of its advisory services Frankfurt School manages the InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) funded by KfW. The ISF promotes the development of innovative and sustainable climate risk insurance products in developing and emerging countries, to improve the resilience of poor and vulnerable households against the impacts of climate change and natural disasters.
For the strengthening of the Programme Coordination Unit we are thus looking for a Project Manager (f/m/d).
Applicants must bring
- A university degree in finance, natural sciences, social sciences or allied disciplines: risk management, insurance, development studies, economics, finance, law, accounting, business administration.
- At least five (5) years of postgraduate experience in organisation(s) or government department(s) engaged in development finance programmes.
- Relevant private sector experience (insurance, financial services or business economics), ideally in business development, working with the public sector.
- Familiarity with PPP initiatives and bodies such as the Insurance Development Forum (IDF), InsuResilience Global Partnership and its implementing partners.
- Strong project management (administration and coordination) skills that ensure clear goals are set, projects are planned and managed effectively within budget and time constraints.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (main working language is English); knowledge of German would be an asset.
- A willingness to travel within Europe or to developing countries on a case-by-case basis (the position is based in Frankfurt
Background: Frankfurt School has been mandated to support the implementation of the tripartite programme signed and announced jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Insurance Development Forum (IDF) and the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ) at the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit with the objective to scale-up the use of climate risk finance and insurance mechanisms in 20 countries. To generate momentum for action and streamline activities, a Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) for the tripartite program will be established at Frankfurt School.
The PCU supports private sector project partnerships as they are created and aid compiling and submitting proposals for co-financing to the ISF. To this end, FS is looking for a project coordinator/manager with a strong understanding of climate-related risks affecting developing countries and the climate and disaster risk financing and insurance market landscape.
Objectives: The focus of the position will be the facilitation of project partnerships in the context of the application for ISF co-financing , with proactive communication outlining the project partnership formation, project application and resource planning.
Furthermore, the project coordinator/manager will assist the process of communication, coordination and collaboration among project partnership members when preparing a submission to the ISF by communicating the ISF requirements, gathering data and advising on alignment with the ISF eligibility criteria. In addition, he/she will assist in structuring and drafting the ISF project submission documents (i.e. concept note and full project proposal documentation), tracking progress and knowledge management with digital storage of relevant documentation.
