Surveyor Marine Equipment & Components

You will collaborate closely with local teams in the Rhine-Ruhr region, Southern Germany, and the Czech Republic, offering guidance and improving our processes.

The role
- The responsibilities will include conducting direct and remote surveys of mechanical or electrical parts and components for use in maritime or industrial environments at manufacturers' facilities, as well as performing periodic or initial inspections of these facilities.
- You will present deliverables to clients and devise solutions when needed. Your commercial acumen will help you identify additional business opportunities.
- Applicable Codes and Standards: LR Rules and Regulations, Specifications and Procedures, IACS Unified Requirements, EN/ISO/IEC Standards, or other applicable codes.
- Coverage Area:Primarily Rhine-Ruhr, with occasional assignments in Southern Germany and neighboring countries/areas.
What you bring
- Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (Dipl. Ing. FH/Univ./TH/UH or B.Eng./B.Sc./M.Eng./M.Sc. or equivalent)
- Resident in the Bielefeld area, Germany, working from your home base within the Team Rhine Ruhr to serve clients on-site
- Ability and willingness to travel primarily within the specified area, with occasional travel to Southern Germany and neighboring regions
- Proficiency in German (equivalent to native level) and English, suitable for the nature of the work
- A Welding Engineer (EWE/IWE) qualification is an advantage
- Additional useful qualifications include:
NDE/NDT ISO 9712 Level II (UT or MT or PT or VT)
- Experience with vessel installations and components, including main propulsion equipment and components (oil and gas engines, gearing, diesel-electric systems including the required control systems, engine auxiliary systems and components), pumps, compressors, pressure vessels and piping, generators, electric motors, converters, etc., is an advantage
- Familiarity with materials, including steel grades, castings, and forgings, regarding chemistry, mechanical properties, welding, testing, etc.
- Willingness to further develop knowledge for electrical inspections on low and high voltage equipment
- Ability and willingness to discuss technical and commercial issues both internally and externally, from the workshop level to top management.
