In urban area, conventional satellite-based navigation systems have the problem of limited satellite signals reception due to tall building obscuring the view of satellites. In addition, there are a lot of signal interferences which severely impair the reception quality. These signal disturbances are challenging for autonomous driving in cities.
In the Firefly project, a new navigation system is developed which fuses GNSS signals with LTE signals and measurements of an inertial measurement unit to achieve accurate and robust localization and state estimation in urban canyons. You will help to implement sensor parsers, develop software submodules and support us during measurement campaignes.
