What you'll do

With the recent improvements in generative AI, new applications seem possible where the AI could greatly support human work. We would like to explore potential internal use cases and create prototypes to better understand the strengths and limitations of AI-based approaches. The work may focus on LLM (large language model) based AI approaches but can also involve machine learning related aspects such as feature engineering, training, evaluations or data science related tasks such as data quality engineering or data reasoning.

The main software product we work on is SAP HANA, a database management system for very large enterprise scenarios. SAP HANA is mainly written in C++. Our automation for delivery tasks is written mainly in Python. Therefore, many use cases may involve Python, SQL, C++, or large amounts of data.

Examples: Learn a classification of errors caused by SQL queries, better understand the root cause behind errors of SQL queries, improve the conversion from SQL to a ML feature, better understanding of bug reports, summarize bug reports, automated bug repair proposal, proposals for code refactoring given a certain goal.

What you bring

Required:

• Student
• Knowledge in Python programming and SQL
• Experience with ML or generative AI demonstrated by lectures or personal experiments
• Comfortable with English

Beneficial:

• Experience with C++
• Experience with typical tools in data science, ML and AI domains

Meet your team

The mission of the SAP HANA Delivery team is to bring innovations and corrections for the SAP HANA Platform to the customer in quality and time- on-premise and in the Cloud.
We plan releases, assure source code quality and transform the content of the SAP HANA source code repository into a release. In the context of HANA Cloud, lifecycle management of cloud deployments as well as quality feedback to the development organization is part of our task.
To fulfill our mission, we collaborate with a wide range of teams such as SAP HANA program- and product management, development, technical support as well as a vast number of internal stakeholders that build their applications on top of the SAP HANA Platform.

Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please also describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.
