Main tasks

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team led by Prof Dr Meike Saul. The working group focuses on translational research projects in cancer research, in particular the role of microRNAs as biomarkers for personalised therapy approaches in various tumour entities. Furthermore, mechanisms of cellular communication in the tumour microenvironment via extracellular vesicles (EVs, also known as exosomes) are investigated and new therapeutic approaches are derived from this. To this end, the working group uses state-of-the-art microscopic methods, cell biological, microbiological and immunological techniques. A particular focus of the working group is on RNA-based methods and the characterisation of EVs at the single vesicle level.

Your activities include:

• Application or establishment of molecular biological, cell biological and immunological techniques, including
  • Working with various cell lines in cell culture and 3D models
  • Gene expression analyses and microRNA quantification methods (PCR)
  • Histological examinations of tissue samples
• General laboratory and administrative activities (organisation, orders, etc.)
• Supervision of interns

Your Profile

• Completed vocational training as a medical or biological-technical assistant or completed university studies: Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Life Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Technical and Applied Biology
• Several years of professional and laboratory experience
• Good knowledge of molecular biology and (immuno)oncology, in particular experience with the methods described above (at least in part) is expressly desired
• Good written and spoken English skills
• Knowledge of common IT applications, especially MS Office
• High motivation, teamwork and communication skills, commitment, manual and organisational skills, business acumen and reliability
