Job summary:
South Pole is looking for a Consultant to strengthen its team in Europe. The consultant will play a key role in international consultancy assignments and proposals, and advise colleagues and teams in the Certificates business line on market developments relating to Article 6, compliance markets and carbon regulations more broadly.
As a global sustainability solutions provider, South Pole works with clients in public and private spaces to build solutions for a sustainable society and economy. The Policy & Strategy team sits in a business line responsible for sourcing carbon projects, developing them and bringing resulting carbon credits to market. In addition to supporting Business Line colleagues, the team works on public and private consultancy assignments for clients. It also provides policy and technology insights and market intelligence to various teams within the business lines.
Short-listed candidates will have an excellent understanding of global and regional climate policy and carbon policy, ideally with prior experience working in consulting.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Manage consulting and internal advisory assignments throughout their entire project cycle: initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure.
- Ensure highly efficient and high-quality implementation of South Pole assignments and internal initiatives.
- Contribute to business development activities for the company, including supporting the development of consultancy proposals, with a focus on CORSIA and sovereign buyers of Article 6 credits
- Provide technical leadership for the development of proposals and implementation of advisory assignments for the corporate and public sector on topics such as carbon market instruments, carbon market regulations, claims and voluntary carbon markets.
- Contribute to product development for the company’s offering in coordination with the rest of the business line, with a focus on Article 6, CORSIA and sovereign buyers
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities and expand skills and knowledge linked to the topics and services offered by South Pole, on topics related to Article 6, CORSIA and sovereign buyers
- Contribute to the development of South Pole’s thought leadership activities, services, products, marketing materials and offerings on topics related to Article 6, CORSIA and sovereign buyers
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of dashboards and business solutions covering CORSIA data
Requirements:
Essential -
- University degree, ideally at a Master’s level or higher, in a sustainability-related field;
- Relevant knowledge of international climate policy and carbon markets, including the voluntary carbon market and compliance markets;
- Relevant work experience working in the field of climate change or sustainability (minimum of a few years);
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
- Excellent project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and proven ability to guide project teams in a multi-cultural and multi-geography context.
- Excellent writing skills, with proven expertise in creating and reviewing high-quality written documents (proposals and deliverables);
- Autonomous and proactive, yet strong ability to work collaboratively;
- Excellent prioritisation and time management skills;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Google Suite applications and MS products (Word, Excel);
- Excellent oral and written skills in English.
Desirable -
Strong experience in stakeholder and client management; - Experience in managing complex projects and international teams of consultants;
- Industry-relevant connections, with a network of potential clients, collaborators, and other relevant stakeholders;
- Working knowledge of PowerBi
- Mastery of other language(s) than English, in particular German, French or Spanish;
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced international environment.
