Job Description
Operates, monitors, and performs on-site certification and diagnostic performance checks of both the Live Monitor (LM) and the ICADS systems providing a multi-million-dollar Air Combat Training System (ACTS) engineered to optimize an Air Force pilot’s combat capabilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tests, inspects, loads and extracts pre-mission and post-mission data daily.
- Monitors live missions, providing mission corrections, when needed, via the Ground System (GS) LM uplink capabilities.
- Coordinates efforts with USAFE aircrews and ACTS electronic engineers to ensure mission data is planned, loaded, and compatible with mission requirements.
- Performs daily pre-mission operational checks to verify ICADS and associated communications systems are fully operable and configured to meet aircrew training events prior and during scheduled aircraft combat training missions.
- Provides independent diagnoses of degraded ICADS software programs and restores equipment to safe and effective operation through application of electronic theory, system analysis, built-in test functions, calibrations, and software reprogramming.
- Schedules and performs periodic, preventive, and corrective GS/LM/RRU maintenance (including ancillary equipment).
- Researches Technical Orders to perform corrections and modifications, based on equipment degradation, to enhance compatibility and reliability with aircraft systems.
- Uses precision test equipment such as signal processors, network analyzers, Spectrum Analyzer and complex Electro-optical computer-based software/hardware products, and other digital or analog interface devices peculiar to the ICADS.
- Identifies and reports corrections and improvements to Technical Orders.
- Identifies and reports product/material quality deficiencies.
- Conducts inventories and maintains accountability records for all ground subsystems, including ancillary and support equipment.
- Performs equipment status reporting, as well as maintenance data collection/job documentation.
- Conducts ICADS/GS/LM training, including ancillary and support equipment training
- Maintains and updates training documentation as required.
Minimum Education/Experience Level
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or seven years of experience in software engineering or a related field; high degree of understanding and experience in software analysis, simulations, and design
- Seven (7) years of progressive software support experience, to include five (5) years of ACTS experience, or equivalent
- Master of Science (M.S.) degree in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
- Must be knowledgeable in maintaining and troubleshooting ACTS type software systems to include modifying existing and/or adding new functions
Capable of conducting fault detection, isolation and corrective actions to ACTS software; this includes correcting deficiencies in the various programs to ensure proper system performance as well as producing operational programs, listings, and data sheets for enhancing ACTS training
