Playing an essential role in the Group Security, Health, Safety & Crisis Team to provide proportionate yet robust Safety & Risk Management across TUI; the Safety & Risk Specialist plays an integral part in the H&S; process acting as the key liaison between suppliers and TUI with responsibility for the effective follow up / investigation of findings from assessments / incident investigations to ensure that identified risks are managed effectively and appropriately.
Due to the nature of this role you would need to be based from either Greece, Spain, Canaries, Thailand or Italy. Closing date for applications will be Wednesday 3rd January..
ABOUT THE JOB
- Working within a fast-paced environment the S&R; Specialist provides support to the team and Managers to ensure the department meets the operational standards and expectations of the organization. You will work within the Group SHSC function to facilitate, communicate, and embed a positive safety culture throughout the organization and work within the Group Safety Management System requirements by building strong collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Acting as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, you will use your expert safety knowledge, experience and language skills to provide specialist health and safety guidance and advice.
- You will be the key S&R; contact for suppliers and external bodies such as local health authorities, local tourism officials, specialist contractors when working to resolve H&S; issues. You will also be working closely with our third-party assessment companies and technical specialists dealing with day- to- day operations – this requires risk assessment of assessment findings and applying mitigation and control measures as required.
- You will be confident to discuss your safety recommendations directly with suppliers and external bodies as well as internal TUI departments in order to ensure a consistent approach for TUI customers across all markets. There is a requirement to build robust supplier relationships by providing face- to- face support and guidance as well as dynamic risk assessment on site as required sometimes at very short notice. As and when required your approach will be flexible and collaborative to address requirements across the whole S&R; remit.
- Act as safety specialist you will review the assessment data or investigate incidents to determine the safety risk within your region / remit and ensure suitable resolutions are implemented. This will include direct liaison with suppliers and may require internal escalation to senior stakeholders within TUI.
- As required you will be confident to act as the key liaison between external bodies such as health authorities, tourism boards, external contractors and suppliers /TUI utilising your expert safety knowledge and often language skills to understand and implement specific external H&S; requirements.
- Preparation of accurate data from all internal databases and liaison with suppliers, destination teams and other key stakeholders to discuss options for resolution of assessment findings.
- Preparation of desk top risk assessments considering appropriate mitigation and control measures to reduce the level of risk in each situation. Make risk-based recommendations to senior managers on proposed action / response and implement necessary follow up.
- Utilising your language skills to build relationships with suppliers such that technical H&S; requirements can be communicated accurately.
- You will have the specialist knowledge and confidence to travel independently within your region / remit to meet with suppliers as and when safety issues arise.
- You will be required to attend key New Build / Major Refurbishment hotel projects in your region / remit throughout the construction phase to offer H&S; knowledge and advice and ensure the hotel opens as planned and without safety concerns
- Ensuring that relevant policies and procedures are effective and kept up to date making recommendations for change / update as required.
ABOUT YOU
- NEBOSH Certificate in Operational Safety Management or equivalent would be beneficial
- Language skills are essential – written and spoken fluency in Greek, Italian, Spanish or the right to live or work in Thailand / Far East. Every applicant must be fluent in English (written and spoken).
