American Express International Card Services - Commercial is the leading provider of Business Financing, T&E Solutions, Supplier Payments, and Cross-Border Payments that help small, mid-size, and large corporations around the world manage nearly every facet of their business spending.
As the Director Large & Mid-Market you will lead a team of Sales and Account Managers, focused on growing the Corporate Solutions revenues in the German Mid-Market and Large Market segments. This role will be focused on rapidly building the business by winning new clients, retaining and expanding existing accounts, while mentoring and developing sales talent.
As a results-oriented leader you will lead and drive the sales strategy and execution to achieve ambitious strategic and business objectives and will be responsible for maintaining the highest ethical and business standards with both customers and employees.
The ideal candidate will effectively balance day to day tactical challenges with building long term strategic sales plans to achieve profitable business growth.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Provide overall operational sales direction and leadership to meet and exceed regional sales objectives
Develop and maintain sales plans, metrics and strategy to deliver annual sales targets.
Work within a matrixed team structure of Sales, Marketing, Risk, Finance, Global Servicing & Operations to own, plan and execute a regional GTM strategy for the region.
Lead and coach a high performing team of Sales and Account Development Managers, developing a sales and challenger mindset across the teams driving x-sell and expansion initiatives.
Build strong business relationships resulting in growth opportunities while ensuring retention of mid-market and large market clients.
Utilize solution-selling and value-added, ROI driven methodologies to sell our Corporate solutions.
Establish and expand knowledge of our products, competitors and industry trends.
Be present at industry conferences to represent Amex and raise awareness in the market
Your Qualifications
Academic background or adequate education with 10 years + experience in Account Management and Sales and a minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience
Demonstrable previous success with Account Development or Sales type roles in a B2B environment especially in the payments industry
The ability to lead and mentor a team to success in a challenging competitive environment
Strategic and consultative selling skills with strong negotiation abilities
Experience in managing a sales pipeline and clients engagement to drive decision making process
Strong strategic and analytical skills
Ability to clearly articulate and communicate complex ideas, both verbally and in written form, developing written communications for a variety of audiences
Desire to collaborate with colleagues and internal departments and business units globally
A strong understanding of Procurement and Procure-to-Pay processes
The ability to sell the Amex value proposition is critical. Therefore, a solid understanding of the Commercial Card industry and product suite is a benefit.
Language skills (fluent): German and English
