ENVIRONMENT MANAGER in Berlin bei AVANGRID

The Environment Manager is a supporting role within the Offshore Renewables Business, assisting on the delivery of environmental compliance and providing specialist environmental advice within large-scale offshore wind projects across the globe throughout the full project lifecycle from development into construction and operation to decommissioning.

Working within the Offshore Environmental Team and reporting to the Lead Environment Compliance Manager, the Environment Manager will be responsible for providing expert input and advice to projects on environmental management.

The role will assist with developing the business wide Environmental Management System (EMS) and ensuring regulatory and legal compliance through implementation, audit and development of new processes. They will ensure that appropriate standards of quality, best practice and excellent environmental performance are applied.

This Environment Manager will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations and the individual should be capable of assisting with managing environmental activities and resources at different project locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Overall act as the main point of contact for environmental management on the offshore wind projects,
• Ensure that environmental requirements are fully considered and adhered to in specialist advice/ design to ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practice including preparation of contract schedules and associated documentation.
• To provide technical (environmental) support to the Head of Environment and Project Managers as directed to enable consent, build and operation of offshore assets
• Deliver consistent, high quality, cost effective specialist technical advice in relation to EMS.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

• Liaise with the HS team on HS-E interface topics and contractor management.
• Assist with the inspection of appropriate aspects of offshore plant/ activity to ensure that assets are supplied and installed to the required environmental standards.
• Develop working knowledge of the latest technical and commercial developments in the specialist discipline that has the potential to reduce cost and risk, or improve environmental performance.
• Creation and ownership of key project environmental documents (Environmental Management Plan etc)
• Establish and maintain environmental/ planning stakeholder relationships.
• Manage environmental interfaces between projects to industry standards.
• Maintain co-ordination of environmental interest of development-construction-operations, particularly monitoring/ feedback.
• Inform and advise offshore team on all environmental aspects.

• Assisting with the development, implementation and continual improvement of an Offshore Business specific Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Supporting compliance and ongoing enhancements to the EMS by assisting with reviews/ audit and sharing of lessons across all projects and operational assets
• Assisting with assessment and approval of all contractor EMS proposals throughout pre selection, tendering, award and project execution phases to ensure quality and reputation of suppliers
• Specialist for environmental compliance management for Iberdrola’s offshore projects worldwide, providing specialist technical advice, assessment and recommendations to ensure delivery of environmental compliance.
• Ensure that all assessment, advice and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with all internal procedures (focused on environmental management) and industry best practice.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGES, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Fluent in English
• Educated to degree level in a relevant Environmental (management) discipline.
• Experience of working in environmental compliance, preferably in the offshore industry (knowledge of offshore wind desirable).
• Developing towards Auditor qualification (ideally accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) eg. ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Course) or some experience in environmental auditing
