Bauhaus Luftfahrt e. V.
Join The Aviation Think Tank!
Have you ever wondered what tomorrow’s air transport might look like? As the aviation think tank in Germany – consisting of young and
ambitious experts from various disciplines – our goal is to provide science-based answers. Located in Taufkirchen near Munich, we offer a
modern working environment with open ears and doors. We are always looking for passionate and creative minds to help us push today’s
boundaries to new heights. Shape the future of aviation with us today and join us as:
Research Scientists (m/f/d) on Technologies and Systems
that enable Hydrogen Aircraft
in the field of either Natural Sciences or Engineering
Our challenges:
Hydrogen based aircraft require novel technologies from
fundamental levels as materials or electro-chemistry to
systems and their integration into the aircraft
Bringing novel technologies together and making use of
synergies does require multiple disciplines and their
interdisciplinary effort
In a joint effort, you will develop concepts for new energy
systems based on batteries and/or fuel cells. This will address
all relevant areas from energy storage and provisioning,
through thermal management to the final propulsive power on
aircraft level
Assessing the potential of those novel concepts will also
include life-cycle aspects with evaluation of ecological and
techno-economic criteria as well as other performance
indicators
Evaluating their impact on climate change and possible
mitigations options
We need you because:
You have successfully completed your master and wish to
obtain a PhD or you are a Post-Doc and want to gain know-
how and extend your personal network
You have gained experience in any area that will help to
tackle the challenges at hand, being it material sciences or
systems engineering
Ideally you have already gained an insight in life-cycle
assessment of novel technologies or systems
You have excellent mathematical and analytical skills, good
programming skills in Python and are willing to familiarise
yourself with new topics and tools
You are interested in target-oriented tasks, creative
challenges, out-of-the-box thinking and in interdisciplinary
team work
You want to work in joint academic or industry projects
You are proficient in German and English
What to expect:
International team with a high qualification level

ground and our thoughts in the air
