Lehrstuhl und Institut für fluidtechnische Antriebe und Systeme
The Institute for Fluid Power Drives and Systems (ifas) at RWTH Aachen University is one of the largest institutes of its kind in the world and is involved in research and teaching in all areas of fluid power. Today, in addition to mechanical engineering, it also includes disciplines such as thermodynamics, computer science, control engineering, electrical engineering, tribology and chemistry. These wide-ranging topics allow you to apply and deepen large parts of the knowledge imparted in your studies and thus establish a practical connection. A friendly, open and helpful interaction between students and academic staff is a particular feature of ifas. In summary, you are offered excellent conditions for personal and professional development. You can expect:
- Diverse tasks
- Practical experience alongside your studies
- Exciting insights into research work
- Contribute your own ideas to the project
- Flexible working hours (consideration for exams, home office if necessary)
- As much coffee & water as you can drink
- Cake from time to time
You bring with you:
- Enthusiasm for working in a fluid technology research environment
- A determined and independent way of working
- You are willing to learn new topics and tasks and thereby apply and expand the knowledge you have already acquired
- You have good practical skills
- Very good written and spoken German and/or English
- Not afraid of water or oil
- Current studies at a university or university of applied sciences
Advantageous but not mandatory:
- Pre-existing knowledge of fluid technology
- CAD and design experience
- Interest or experience in machine learning topics
- Programming skills (Python, MATLAB)
You are interested in long-term employment. Less previous knowledge due to a lower semester is not an issue in this context.
Your area of responsibility is versatile and individually adaptable according to your interests and knowledge. You will start a new project together with me, which will investigate the compatibility of new bio-hybrid fuels with seals as part of the Fuel Science Center at RWTH. In addition to experimental investigations, a method is to be developed that uses machine learning to predict material compatibility. Initially, you would support me in familiarizing with the topic and gradually work independently on practical or theoretical tasks. Possible supporting tasks could be:
- Planning and construction of a test bench
- Measurement of material samples in the laboratory
- Support in the concept development and programming of a classification algorithm
Are you interested or do you have any questions? Then give me a call or send me an E-Mail. I look forward to seeing you!
