As our Technology Insights Expert (m/f/d) you will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and deciphering the latest technological trends, developments, and advancements beyond the current internal technological landscape. The purpose of this role will be to inform and guide Bruker BioSpin’s (BBIO) technology strategy on group level, ensuring it remains innovative, competitive, and aligned with both current and emerging tech landscapes. You will also aid in mitigating technological risks and identifying opportunities for investment and adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Technological trend analysis: Monitor and analyze emerging technological trends to determine their potential impact on the industry and BBIO.
- Competitive analysis: Study competitors’ technological advancements, assess their capabilities, and determine potential threats and opportunities.
- Technology Forecasting: Predict future technological changes and innovations that might affect the industry market, also from adjacent industries, where technology innovation can be an opportunity or disruption to BBIO.
- Risk management: Identify potential technological risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Stakeholder communication: Regularly communicate findings and insights to internal stakeholders, ensuring they remain updated about relevant technological shifts.
- Contact person for technological recommendations: Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to strategy owners and stakeholders, e.g., Group Strategy, Market Management and EMT, based on technological intelligence.
- Contact person for internal consulting: Consult technology-focused R&D projects as needed, ensuring they align with the intelligence findings and organizational strategic direction and assist in the development of innovation strategies and roadmaps.
- Participation in internal assessment: Support R&D in the review of BBIO’s current technology portfolio to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Drive collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Market Product Management, Applications and other departments of interest to get additional insights and to ensure technological advancements align with organizational goals.
- Implementation of collaboration with external entities: Establish and maintain relationships with external technological forums, communities, and think tanks to gather first-hand intelligence.
- Creation of data management: Ensure that all gathered data and intelligence are organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible for decision-making.
- Responsible for budget management: Manage the technology intelligence budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize returns on investment.
- Participation in continuous learning: Stay updated with latest methods, tools, and platforms for technology intelligence, ensuring BBIO always has a cutting-edge advantage in its intelligence activities.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, biotechnology or similar area
- Approx. 3–5 years of experience in similar role
- Expert knowledge on outside-in analysis of science, IP, (bio-)analytical technologies, industrial players, and rising technologies (e.g., in silico/ AI)
- Proven experience in technology scouting, competitive analysis, or market research, preferably in a technology-driven industry
- Advanced knowledge with data analysis and data-driven decision-making processes is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge in competitive and strategic analysis
- Basic knowledge of CRM system SFDC and related integration of survey tools
