Senior Data Engineer - DIA Engineering Platform in Berlin bei Zalando

The Digital Insights & Analytics (DIA) team in the Zalando eCommerce Platform (ZCP) Science division in Zalando plays a pivotal role in optimizing the onsite experience for Zalando’s more than 46M active customers. With DIA being the onsite customer analytics department at Zalando, providing highly reliable data and customer onsite behavioral analyses is at the center of every product we develop. To achieve this, we are leveling up our analytics data infrastructure and we would love for you to join us in this effort!

You’ll report directly to the Engineering Manager of DIA, and you will be working closely with the other data engineers within the team in the DIA Central Teams. The mission of the DIA Central Teams is to help our embedded product analysts work more efficiently and impactfully through centralized infrastructure, datasets, standards, and processes. This role is about designing and building high-quality data infrastructure solutions with us.

We’d love to meet you if …

• You have 5+ of experience as a data engineer

• You have expertise in Data warehousing concepts - logical design modeling, system design, and SQL development, and curated data products

• You have experience working with Airflow, dbt, Databricks, Spark SQL

• You have experience working with AWS technologies including Redshift

• You understand and improve platform capabilities with a special focus on operational excellence

• You have solid understanding of deployment and testing frameworks

• You bring a clear, audience-sensitive style to your verbal and written communication

• You have a Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As a Senior Data Engineer in the DIA Engineering Platform team within Zalando eCommerce Platform Sciences, you will work with exceptional engineers, analysts, and product leaders to develop a robust platform infrastructure required to build efficient end-to-end data pipelines that are scalable, repeatable, and secure. We are looking for someone who has an in-depth understanding of data engineering best practices as well as expertise with the tools needed to debug and diagnose issues.

You will contribute as a team member to development, testing, documentation of the infrastructure, data pipelines, and systems and will help enable the DIA Analysts’ to provide highly accurate and reliable analytics to business stakeholders. You will also ensure operational excellence - observability and monitoring of pipelines, SLOs, data governance and compliance, and minimizing technical debt.
