ECMWF is seeking to fill an exciting new position as Partnership and User Engagement Specialist.
The role will sit within the ECMWF User Outreach and Engagement Section and will report to the Team Lead on Applications and Innovation Partnerships and the Team Lead on the Copernicus National Uptake and Thematic Collaborations, who are both responsible for the implementation of the strategy on partnerships and user engagement for DestinE and Copernicus respectively.
The incumbent is expected to complement existing activities in the section with a particular focus on supporting the implementation of the strategies and plans to enforce engagement with national stakeholders (including National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (MMHSs)), EU institutions and agencies and UN agencies in scope of DestinE and C3S. Connections with selected private sector organisations may also be pursued.
Specific attention will be paid to investigating and developing potential partnerships in scope of the DestinE Digital Twins and exploring different options for the integration of C3S into national climate service activities as a co-designed activity together with national actors. The partnership activities are implemented to make full use of the complementarities between DestinE and Copernicus as well as with actions conducted by ECMWF Member State activities.
For DestinE, the incumbent will be responsible for managing several contracts implementing use cases, ensuring they optimally serve both the development of ECMWF’s digital twins and linked system components, support co-design of DestinE and identifying requirements for the future evolution of DestinE. He/she will also be involved with developing partnerships with key institutional stakeholders.
For C3S, the incumbent will be responsible for the technical management of contracts in scope of the C3S national uptake strategy, optimizing the interaction and the collaboration with national institutions and public administrations to further exploit the use of C3S products and services at national level. In addition, he/she will coordinate the implementation of the Copernicus Thematic Hub on Energy leveraging all existing Copernicus data products (cf. https://www.copernicus.eu/en/copernicus-services), facilitating the access to these data products and fostering the development of new applications useful for the different user communities active in the energy domain.
For both DestinE and C3S, engagements with UN bodies can be explored as well to facilitate the role of both programmes to serve users within a wider global context. The incumbent will work closely together with other members of the User Outreach and Engagement Section, the C3S Sector Information System (SIS) team responsible for the design and development of turn-key solutions and other scientists, as well as the Communications Section and User Services Section. Close interactions with user stakeholders at national, European and UN level is a crucial part of the role. Occasional travel may be required.
