Overview:
GovCIO is currently hiring for a Database Administrator to support database systems and applications to support DoD missions and operations. This position will be located in Stuttgart, Germany and will be a onsite position.
Responsibilities:
Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
- Administers a variety of database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, and other Database Management Systems (DBMS).
- Develops and enforces database administration and user standards and procedures; audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands.
- Oversees the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites.
- Assists Database Designers/Information System Analysts in the development and creation of SQL and Web-based databases and database systems.
- Reviews technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff; creates and maintains high-level reporting systems using products such as Crystal Reports; researches and implements new database and online technology.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.
Provide database administration to include data backups, schema development and maintenance, and database/OS upgrades. Support to Operations and Exercises Microsoft SQL databases.
Additionally, the DBA will provide remote support and/or travel to customer servers and sites as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's with 5 - 8 years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience
- Currently hold an adjudicated Secret Clearance and be able to maintain
- BA/BS + 5 years recent specialized or AA/AS +7 years recent specialized or a major cert + 9 years recent specialized or 11 years of recent specialized experience
- CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
- TESA eligibility
- Clearance Required: Secret
Preferred Skills and Experience
- ITIL v3 – Foundation
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
- Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files
- Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs
- Experience working in VmWare ESXi environments
- Experience with network storage (SAN/NAS)
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions
- Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards
- Clearance Required: Secret

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or c
