Bertelsmann Investments (BI) comprises Bertelsmann’s global venture capital activities as well as the Bertelsmann Next growth unit. The venture capital arm includes the funds Bertelsmann Asia Investments (BAI), Bertelsmann India Investments (BII) and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI), as well as selected fund and direct holdings in markets including Europe, the United States, Brazil, Southeast Asia, and Africa. The Bertelsmann Next unit advances the entrepreneurial development of new growth sectors and business areas, including digital health, HR Tech and mobile ad tech. To date, around €1.9 billion has been invested in about 500 innovative companies and funds through Bertelsmann Investments. Bertelsmann Investments currently holds over 350 active investments worldwide through its network of start-ups and funds.
BI’s Central M&A team focuses on all strategic transactions in the Bertelsmann Next growth unit.
Your tasks
As Analyst M&A at Bertelsmann Investments (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the following activities:
- Supporting the Bertelsmann Investments team in M&A activities (from origination to post-merger integration) in particular with focus on developing new growth areas, including digital health
- Preparing financial models, valuation approaches and conducting other data based quantitative analyses
- Proposing new investment targets and screening inbound deal-flow
- Leading M&A projects in collaboration with portfolio companies’ management, building and maintaining relationships with all key partners and stakeholders
Your profile
You successfully completed your studies (at least Bachelor’s degree) in Business Administration, Economics or a comparable degree program. Your personal profile is rounded out with:
- First work experience (e.g. through internships), ideally in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, management consulting or a comparable role in large organizations
- Experience in the areas of market analysis, financial analysis, company valuation and modeling
- Excellent analytical skills with a solution-oriented working method
- Strong project management and communication skills
- International experience (desirable)
- Business proficiency in German and English
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
