What to Expect
The Cell Development team is responsible for validating the battery cells produced at the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, qualifying second source supplier parts, developing the next generation of battery cells and the recycling process of battery cells, arrays and packs. The Equipment Engineering Interns work with the echem, electrical, mechanical and safety validation and recycling teams to design, build and validate test equipment and qualify new process steps. At Tesla scope and complexity of your assignments are limited by your aptitude not seniority or title.

What You’ll Do
- Learn to work in cross-discipline to use first principal approach for test equipment design, commissioning and optimization
- Support design and commissioning of test equipment for cell lifetime and safety tests
- Learn about and apply fabrication methods to deliver test equipment quickly
- Perform and evaluate tests for equipment commissioning and product-release
- Perform documentation and establish processes for testing and equipment service; train colleagues as needed
What You’ll Bring
- Fluency in English, German is a plus
- Studying in relevant subject (electrical, mechanical, process, automotive, chemical engineering OR computer engineering, physics or similar with hands-on mindset)
- 3D Design/CAD skills and creation of fundamental wiring and hydraulics diagrams is required, experience with PIDs is a plus.
- Hands on working attitude with workshop experience is preferable
- Initial experience in MATLAB/Python or other software for data processing is required, SQL is a plus
- Analytical and problem-solving oriented mindset, proactive and structured work mentality
- A strong team player, who is capable of working in a fast paced and always changing environment; project management experience or foundations are a plus
- Initial experience in an OEM or equipment/machine manufacturer is a plus
