The job

The Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) synthesise the available scientific and non-scientific knowledge to inform decision-making processes on biodiversity loss and climate change as key challenges for human societies. Our project, RESPIN, will support the integrated provision and use of IPBES and IPCC processes and outputs. It will identify gaps in the knowledge provision and develop ideas for how to address them and improve engagement of diverse knowledge holders with a particular support for underrepresented regions in Central Africa, Central Asia, and Latin America.

This position will support the project, starting ideally on September 1, 2024.

Your tasks

Supporting scientific processes, such as a Biodiversity Policy Integration analysis of EU policies, social network analysis and others
Support the identification of key informants and data collection (survey data)
Support in the organization of a sub-national workshop in Germany on IPCC/IPBES knowledge uptake
Supporting the compilation, writing and formatting of deliverables for the project

Your profile

Successful completion (or advanced course) of a degree in the environmental or social sciences (Open to other degrees, as long as you make a strong case regarding your interest)
Advanced professional English (B2/C1) is mandatory, knowledge of German is an asset
Proven record of time management and organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and self-initiative and clear communication skills are expected
Further knowledge in this field of work, especially political integration, knowledge uptake of IPBES/IPCC, nature conservation, etc. is an advantage
Experience in organizing events and experiences in (digital) communication processes are an advantage
