The EMEA merchandising department is a fundamental part of any Retail business. Responsible for implementing corporate strategy into reality as well as achieving company goals. They ensure the Bricks & Mortar channels are inspiring customers by creating clear brand assortments, product diversity whilst meeting their needs.
We are looking for a Head of Planning (m/f/d) who starts on the 1st of April 2024 and is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic merchandise business plan in partnership with the Head of Buying and the EMEA Markets (m/f/d) and who drives the strategy for merchandise planning, budget planning, forecasting and effective in-season inventory management for all Full price Brick & Mortar sites.
What you can expect:
- Develop and adapt the core Planning and Merchandising strategy for Retail
- Direct the timely creation, review and execution of the budget and open to buy plans, ensuring that they meet financial sales and margin expectations
- Collaborate with the Finance and Retail teams to support brand planning, category forecasting and areas that can be leveraged to achieve an increase in profitability and improved inventory efficiency for EMEA
- Drive and monitor in-season sales and margin in conjunction with the sale strategy, working closely with the local markets and the online business ensuring all needs are met
- Closely evaluate inventory levels and highlight potential under and overstocks to relevant stakeholders
- Align with all merchandising counterparts to define NOS vs. Fashion yearly and half yearly strategies that identify future opportunities, trends and produce competitive advantage and inventory efficiency
- Act as a change leader to support company initiatives, actively participating in strategic decision making, proactively challenging the status quo, presenting alternative approaches, and highlighting potential issues as needed
- Support development and adoption of new merchandising systems and processes for the planning function to effectively meet company objectives, targets in line with relevant controls and oversight
- Approval process alongside the Head of Buying of the buy, ensuring buyers and planners create compelling assortment plans that execute the merchandise strategy, capture localization opportunities and maintain financial accountability
- Drive inventory optimization, through improved receipt planning, management and improved merchandise turnover
Your profile:
- Successfully completed bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent
- At least 10 years of professional experience in a fast-paced Planning & merchandise planning role
- Collaborative approach, works in partnership with counterparts in key functions
- Several years of motivational leadership experience, incl. leading Seniors and Managers
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to build effective relationship at all levels and gain buy-in at Senior Management level
- Strong analytical skills and solution-orientated as well as agile thinking
- Fluent in English both written and spoken
