The position works on a range of advocacy priorities, with a focus on humanitarian affairs (incl. new and neglected humanitarian topics of MSF Ops relevance), global health and cross-dossier priorities. The position supports the Heads of BeAU in monitoring the policy landscape, identifying strategic opportunities and windows of opportunities for relevant advocacy objectives. The Humanitarian Advocacy Officer advances and supports team-wide knowledge and information sharing as well as streamlined reporting and planning mechanisms.
In your role you will
- Develop and roll-out of advocacy strategies and plans for new and neglected humanitarian contexts, global health and cross cutting priorities; identification and power mapping of relevant actors inside and outside MSF.
- Organize projects and taking over of responsibility for (cross cutting) advocacy priorities in close exchange and alignment with Head of BeAU.
- Research and create evidence-based content; development of content in alliances with other relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare memos, reports and dossiers to be used internally and externally for advocacy purposes; track advocacy related developments and information including list serves, meetings, calls, media, and publications and identification of advocacy opportunities and targets.
- Engage and network with relevant political contacts in parliament and ministries, private sector, academic, civil society organizations as well as international teams of MSF for set key areas of MSF interest or upcoming humanitarian trends of potential relevance to MSF Germany.
- Manage the organization, documentation, and evaluation of advocacy activities to increase knowledge sharing and collaboration across the Berlin Advocacy Unit.
- Develop internal reporting and planning processes for the Berlin Advocacy Unit.
- Support the Head of BeAU on administrative and ad hoc humanitarian context developments and humanitarian trends.
You Have
- Relevant academic degree (Law, Politics, humanitarian degree or similar)
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in the sector, including on humanitarian affairs and global health
- Profound experience in advocacy work (preferably in Germany) as well as representation and public speaking; Confident command of a wide range of advocacy tools
- Excellent understanding and skills in researching and monitoring the positioning and policies of German government, civil society and other stakeholders on key areas of MSF interest
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, experience in knowledge management
- High agility and flexibility in strategic and critical thinking, managing various topics at a fast pace and professional level
- Fluent in German and English
- Commitment to the aims and principles of MSF; knowledge of and prior work with MSF are an asset

- Payment according to a transparent internal salary structure; in this position according to group 4 with full-time employment (40h/week) from 3.714 Euro to a maximum of 4.698, depending on the relevant professional experience
