Your team responsibilities
The EU Sustainable Finance Regulation Research Lead is expected to drive methodology development and support client outreach and MSCI’s thought leadership for the finance industry on EU sustainable finance regulatory solutions. The ESG & Climate Regulatory Solutions team owns the methodology development for EU Sustainable Finance solutions (SFDR, Taxonomy, MiFID II) and supports tailoring of ESG and climate solutions to jurisdictional regulatory requirements globally. This team support financial market participants in meeting their sustainable finance regulatory requirements and to thrive and gather assets in a regulated environment. The role interrelates closely with all parts of the MSCI organization, including Research, Client Sales & Service, Marketing, Legal, Regulatory Affairs and Product Management. The role also provides exposure to other business areas of MSCI (analytics, real estate and index).

Your key responsibilities
Under the supervision of the head of ESG & Climate Regulatory Solutions Research, and collaborating with other members of the ESG Research team, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and driving an investment-useful research agenda on EU sustainable finance regulation and standards initiatives with relevant stakeholders internally and externally to strengthen our thought leadership in this space;
- fostering use cases and practical guides to facilitate implementation by clients, engaging with clients to stay abreast of needs and answer queries;
- supporting business prioritization of regulations to target for solutions; supporting timely and rigorous implementation of regulatory solutions;
- representing MSCI ESG & Climate Regulatory Solutions Research externally, engaging on key market developments, and communicating our knowledge, ideas, and capabilities;
- active contribution to and steering of related bodies, e.g. the Sustainable Methodology Working Group for methodology vetting.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel
Specific Knowledge/Skills
- Leadership and project management experience
- Strong knowledge of emerging sustainable finance regulation and frameworks
- Analytical thinker with attention to detail and the ability to handle, analyze and maintain large data sets
- Excellent English-language communication, writing and presentation skills to clearly articulate ideas and facilitate strong relations with a global team of industry research analysts, technology and operations teams. Strong command of German and/or French are additional assets.
- Understanding of mechanics of ESG analysis and ESG data collection and analysis desired
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative attitude, creative problem-solving skills, willingness to be flexible and ability to work with a global team across cultures and time zones
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience in ESG research industry, or analyst roles within investment
