We are seeking a motivated PhD student / research assistant to join our team at the Institute for Medical Virology, starting from February 1st 2024. The laboratory is part of the Institute of Medical Virology. The position is established into the Lung Research Group under the leadership of Dr. med. Sinem Koc-Günel. The focus of the group is cell-based 2D/3D lung models and viral lung infections with a specific focus on lymphatic endothelium and airway epithelium. You will be working in an interdisciplinary research environment with an international network, using innovative techniques such as cell reprogramming (induced pluripotent stem cells) and cell differentiation.
Project Description
- Building, optimizing and functionally analyzing 2D/3D cell-based models of the lung
- IPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells) work and differentiation, cell reprogramming
- Working with Coronaviruses / Influenza A (S2/3 level)
- Coordination of project tasks (planning and conducting experiments, writing protocols / manuscripts)
Who you are
- Master's degree in Life sciences (ideally biology / cell biology / molecular biology / virology / immunology)
- Solid background in cell culturing and molecular biology
- Highly motivated, passionate, well-organised and team oriented candidate
- Research experience in lung research and / or IP-SCs (induced pluripotent stem cells) is considered a plus
- Fluent in English, spoken and written
- Previous experience in working with organoids is a strong plus
- Due to legal regulations, a valid proof of measles immunity / measles vaccination is required.
