The IZKF Genomics Facility is seeking a researcher for a

Bioinformatics position (f/m/d)

The fulltime position (38,5 h/week) is available starting as soon as possible and would be on a fixed-term contract initially until 30th June 2026.

As a Bioinformatics Specialist at the IZKF Genomics Facility, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing and interpreting complex genomic data. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert bioinformatics support and services to researchers and biologists, assisting them in analyzing and interpreting genomics data
• Collaborate closely with researchers to understand their specific requirements and develop customized analysis strategies and pipelines
• Perform bioinformatics analysis of single cell sequencing data, including preprocessing, quality control, differential expression analysis, and cell type identification
• Assist in the implementation and optimization of existing bioinformatics tools and pipelines for efficient and accurate data analysis
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of bioinformatics workflows and methodologies to enhance data quality and analysis efficiency
• Take responsibility for some system administration tasks to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of bioinformatics infrastructure

Qualifications:

• A Master's degree or a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field
• Proven experience in single cell sequencing data analysis, including familiarity with preprocessing, quality control, differential expression analysis, and cell type identification
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as R and Python, and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and packages
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful biological insights
• Optionally, familiarity with the system administration of a Linux-based server infrastructure
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
