What will you be doing?

• Perform in-depth research on multi-modal AI models with a focus on context modeling, reasoning, and data fusion strategies as well as service discovery, adaptation and orchestration mechanisms. Investigate their potential to enable new 6G use cases like multisensory XR, holographic communication, digital twin, connected mobility and AI-driven smart city infrastructure.
• Explore applications of generative AI and diffusion models to synthesize large labeled datasets for training AI agents tailored to 6G networks and its applications.
• Investigate AI model compression and knowledge distillation techniques to embed complex models into resource-constrained 6G edge devices (e.g. tinyML developments relevant to 6G use cases)
• Research quantum machine learning algorithms and quantum neural networks. Investigate prototype opportunities to use quantum computing to speed up machine learning pipelines involved in 6G network optimization, intelligent resource allocation, and anomaly detection.

Successful completion of the internship requires each applicant to publish a detailed technical report at the end of their tenure, outlining potential demonstrations as Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and showcasing their contributions during their internship at Vodafone.

It would be nice if you have:

• Recently graduated (or currently in their last year) M.Sc or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence and hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning models and applications.
• Familiarity with wireless networking fundamentals and telecommunication standards like 5G NR and WiFi 6.
• Programming experience with Python, and common data science/ML libraries.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication ability along with strong presentation skills.
