Senior Biomarker Strategist (m/f/d)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as biomarker project leader (m/f/d) for development programs in therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, nephrology, immunology and inflammation and take over scientific, technical, clinical, strategic, and budgetary planning for the assigned biomarker projects
- Drive biomarker discovery and development activities and work in close alignment with preclinical and clinical project teams to implement precision medicine approaches in order to shape drug development strategies, optimize study designs and enable early de-risking and successful approval
- Contribute to integrated model informed drug development strategies for quantitative decision making in research and clinical development, indication selection, and (after market authorization) clinical practice with a specific focus on Precision Medicine
- Act as key consultant (m/f/d) to other functions, proactively following early projects starting at the target ID phase, organizing cross functional resources for subsequent biomarker activities on the project
- Design and coordinate all aspects of biomarker delivery in alignment with internal and external functions, including molecular and digital biomarkers, and if required companion diagnostics
- Define, communicate and execute on the biomarker strategy, represent biomarker related aspects internally and externally in meetings with authorities and ethics committees, and with external key opinion leaders as well as build and maintain network with external parties (academia and industry)
- Lead via internal and external collaborations the development of biomarkers and/or segmentation tools for internal decision making and/or as intended part of the product definition, whether to measure response (to aid dose finding or as surrogate endpoint) or to identify patient segments
- Ensure compliance of biomarker activities and drive biomarker qualification processes as well as independently evaluate, interpret, and present results from biomarker analyses that support and enable decision making
WHO YOU ARE
- University degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Medicine or Pharmacy combined with a long-term working experience in a relevant field
- Broad understanding of relevant technologies and methodologies along with excellent scientific skills and ability to experimentally address key scientific questions
- Excellent skills in hypothesis forming and testing and ability to draw conclusions and suggest next steps based on the experimental data; familiarity with data evaluation strategies would be a plus
- Profound knowledge of experimental systems, technologies and assays to approach molecular biomarker identification and analysis as well as knowledge of the regulatory framework for early/late clinical development, biosampling, and biomarker analysis
- Thorough understanding of pathophysiologies and therapies; focus on translational sciences (Proof of Concept) and/or biomarkers, including patient stratification for personalized medicine by use of molecular, imaging, and digital biomarkers using RCT, Registries & RWE
- Ability to orchestrate resources from different parts of the organization in the absence of formal reporting lines
- Strong team player (m/f/d), assertive but willing to listen and to seek and learn from the views of others as well as highly motivated and able to work under pressure
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
