Internship - Validation of Automotive Lidar in Hamburg bei NXP Semiconductors
Internship - Validation of Automotive Lidar in Hamburg bei NXP Semiconductors
Lidar is an essential sensor for autonomous driving Level 3 and higher, complementing a more conventional set of sensors such as radar and camera. Per today, the price of Lidar modules is high, due to expensive technology to generate light and scan the scene. An affordable solid-state Lidar Sensor based on cheaper illumination technologies will be a real breakthrough that will accelerate market adoption. Such breakthrough architecture is being explored within NXP together with World’s leading Tier1.
Your tasks:
Define the test specifications
Experiment with signal processing methods
Validate the proof of concept
Benchmark its performance in light and dark conditions, with different reflectors (lambertian, Car paint)
Analyze the real-life measurements and compare to theoretical prediction
This internship is integrated within an innovation project with an international team of senior colleagues.
Candidate profile:
Master student in physics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, signal processing or similar
Strong programming skills for signal processing (in the language of your choice, e.g. Python, matlab, C, etc.)
Good knowledge of optics, light physics, probability theory (single-photon detectors – poisson distributions), signal processing (e.g., different flavors of CFAR) is preferable
Good communication skills in English
Requirement: mandatory internship required by your University, duration depending on study regulations
Working time: 35h/week
