At the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Chair of Soil Science, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis for the duration of the project ending "SOMPACS – Influence of soil management on properties of soil organic matter and carbon-storage " to June, 30th, 2025 the following position:
Research Assistant (m/f/d)
EG 13 TV-L, part-time employment, 30 hours/week, limited, project position
Tasks and Responsibilities
Research in the frame of the EU-project SOMPACS (Influence of soil management on properties of soil organic matter and carbon-storage), in detail:
- characterization of labile and stabile fractions of soil organic matter from long-term field experiments throughout Europe
- data evaluation of mass-spectrometric and synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopic investigations of bulk soil samples and stable fractions (e. g. humin)
- evaluation of these findings in the context of C-storage in soil and deduction of optimal soil management options for C-storage.
- active participation in project meetings, and result presentations at conferences, in project reports and in scientific publications
Requirements
- completed university studies (state examination, diploma, master's degree or comparable degree) in soil science, agriculture, environmental chemistry or related geosciences
- experience with data management
- good skills in multivariate statistics
- experience with chemical-analytical methods like XANES or mass spectrometry
