Tasks & responsibilities

Within the Human Genetics (HG) team, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team with expertise in advanced human cohort phenotyping, statistical genetics, functional genomics, genetic translation, and statistical modelling. You will focus on building cellular genetics capabilities, advancing our understanding of cell identity, how they are regulated, and how they change during health and disease. Furthermore, you will contribute to the HG goal of delivering high-quality hypotheses for novel therapeutic concepts (NTCs) and insights on patient stratification.
You will be expected to contribute to the HG strategy of genomics-driven drug discovery and the implantation of the Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences (gCBDS) roadmap. You will work in close collaboration with gCBDS teams across functions.
You will be responsible for managing and working together on projects that involve the combination of single-cell genetics and human genetics. You will have accountabilities of proposing, developing, evaluating, and applying novel methods that enable understanding of single-cell phenotypes through genetics and their application in drug discovery.
In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing external CRO projects and university collaborations in cellular genetic space, ensuring that scientific excellence is maintained, and that therapeutic translation is accelerated.You will be a strong communicator in presenting strategy, projects and analyses to stakeholders and broad audiences from non-technical background.

Requirements

PhD degree in Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Genetic Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science or related fields
Several years of industry experience in a disease translation setting in a pharma or biotech environment. More than two years of line management experience
Excellent learning agility demonstrated through past performance in learning new knowledge and new environments. Outstanding skills in building a collaborative working model with stakeholders at all levels
Proficient in agile principle, task prioritization, and a track record of business value delivery within the agreed timeframe
Deep knowledge of single-cell genetics, quantitative trait loci (QTLs), and their use cases in disease translation. Proven experience in developing advanced statistical techniques, software development in R/Python
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Capable of communicating research projects and their impact to non-technical audiences and stakeholders in a clear and engaging mannerExperience of leading large investments with biotech’s and CROs beneficial
