Who we are
The Gene Therapy unit of Pharma Technical Cell and Gene Therapy (PTC) is responsible for the technical development and clinical production of breakthrough viral vector-based therapies from early clinical phase to market approval. Our core business is the development of safe, innovative and effective therapies using state-of-the-art technologies for the entire value chain.
In the new field of in vivo gene therapy, we are concentrating on the following main tasks:
Technical development and clinical supply of viral vectors for in vivo gene therapy
Technical development and production of plasmid DNA as a key element and starting material for in vivo gene and cell therapy
What to expect?
You will join an expert team in Pharma Technical Cell and Gene Therapy in the area of Plasmid Sciences and Plasmid Manufacturing for viral vector based therapies.
The objective of your work is to develop and implement new technologies and cutting-edge sciences for the production and characterization of novel plasmid formats.
You can expect multi-disciplinary and versatile projects in a highly innovative and dedicated work environment. As a member of a global team, you will work in close collaboration with colleagues from different sites of the Roche group as well as academic institutions.
In addition to an intense training-on-the-job you can foster your own development and your career by dedicated trainee seminars and workshops.
Development of a network through job rotations with global collaboration partners in Europe and the US and interaction with different interfaces and with current and former trainees.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Leading projects to develop and implement novel plasmid formats as starting material for viral vector based therapies including independent planning and execution of experiments as well as interpretation, evaluation and documentation of development data
Scientific evaluation, optimization and implementation of emerging cutting-edge technologies for bioprocess development and production of these plasmids
Develop strategies to improve productivity and ensure manufacturability
Driving the science together with a highly enthusiastic, agile and cross-functional team interacting with development experts in early research, bioprocess development and analytical development
Execute the projects proactively with internal and external partners
Ensure attending and presenting at scientific meetings, publication of scientific advances and interacting with the academic community
Who you are
You hold a PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Virology or in another related field with deep understanding of molecular biology technologies, plasmid design as well as bioprocess development
You have hands on experience in the field of plasmid sciences including E. coli small scale production as well as hands-on experience with basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques
Experience in E. coli strain engineering and demonstrated experience in the field of adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) is a plus
Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong drive and high degree of self-motivation complete your profile
You enjoy working in a team even in an international environment but you also have the ability to work independently with excellent planning and organizational skills
