We invite you to join the Algorithms, Tools and Methods Lab Visualization & Interactive HPC at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) as part of the InHPC-DE project. In this role, you will be tackling new challenges in interactive HPC and visualization. We need you to strengthen our developments in virtual reality and in-situ/in-transit visualization. As a JSC, we will soon be operating Europe`s first exascale computer system, and the need for advanced workflows and solutions for handling large data sets in visualization is the focus of the team.
Your Job:
In this position you will be an active part of our Algorithms, Tools and Methods Lab (ATML) Visualization & Interactive HPC and a team member of the InHPC-DE project. InHPC-DE is driving the alliance of the three national Tier-0 HPC centres in Germany to address new challenges in various areas, including interactive HPC and visualization.
- You will be involved in the development and support of our in-house VR application DaVinCo, focusing on the challenges of interfacing with large datasets and real-time transfer of simulation data running on our high performance computing (HPC) resourcesYou will work with virtual reality (VR), HPC and domain science experts to design visualization workflows to improve the understanding of scientific simulation results and data
We are looking for an enthusiastic software developer who can quickly grasp new concepts and ideas and solve problems with high quality software solutions.
Your Profile:
- Completed Master`s or Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Sciences or in a similar field
- Very good practical programming skills in C++ and Python, including the use of version control systems,
- Very good knowledge and proven skills in developing virtual reality (VR) applications using game engines
- Self-motivated personality, curious to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Excellent written and spoken EnglishGood knowledge of German

The position is for a fixed term of 2 years, with possible long-term prospects. Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund), pay group 11 or 13, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the precise nature of the tasks assigned to them.
