Your responsibilities
- Analyse and forecast the European short-term power market channels on a regular as well as ad-hoc basis (e.g. day-ahead auctions, continuous intraday market, ancillary services)
- Support the administration and further development of the existing short-term power analysis models and tools (particularly in-house developed model DAST) and run daily morning routines incl. underlying data gathering and quality processes
- Prepare for and help mastering an ever-more data-driven market analysis environment and closely align Market Analytics’ future aspirations with our internal stakeholders and peer analysts
- Ensure effective relationships with peer analysts and stakeholders across multiple teams and locations by connecting them with research, materials, and people to guarantee optimal cooperation, information flow, and to support decision making
- Confidently apply complex fundamental and econometric power market models and support the improvement and extension of the existing methodological framework as well as their degree of automation
- Proactively support operational trading and market channel optimization; be opinionated, create new business ideas to drive change and commercial success
- Review and assess external analyses (e.g. from consultants, think tanks, etc.) and help to refine Uniper’s view on fundamental drivers, regulatory changes etc.
- Confidently present and communicate insights relating to short-term power to a wide range of stakeholders across all hierarchical levels within Uniper
Your profile
- Excellent education in the field of Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or similar
- Relevant experience in the field of market analysis related to short-term European power markets required
- In-depth market knowledge on the relevant short-term market channels and their fundamental drivers and strong interest in energy trading desired
- Some experience in operating and administrating fundamental and/or econometric market models required
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Experience in working with databases and handling of large amounts of data required
- Programming skills (Python, R, VBA etc.) required
- Strong orientation on results and proactive attitude to support existing processes and drive new developments necessary. First experiences with collaborate software development platforms (e.g. Azure DevOps etc.) beneficial.
- Superior communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively work in an international and diverse environment; represent market analysis towards a range of stakeholders and ensure timely and transparent exchange within and beyond the Market Analytics team
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team and under time pressure, ability to be focused in changing environments and adapt to stakeholder requirements
- Fluent English (written and spoken) required, knowledge of additional languages a plus
