H2 Energy Europe is a developer of large-scale green hydrogen ecosystems. Our projects cover different parts of the green hydrogen value chain from production, to distribution and consumption. Major green hydrogen production projects include a 1GW plant in Esbjerg, Denmark converting offshore wind power, and a 20MW plant in Milford Haven, South Wales. H2 Energy Europe is also rolling out a hydrogen filling station network with sites along major transport routes across Germany, Austria, and Denmark.
H2 Energy Europe is a joint venture between Trafigura and H2 Energy, established in 2021 to build green hydrogen ecosystems in Europe.
We are looking for a hands-on Business Development Associate (0-4 years of work experience) to join our growing team in Germany or Switzerland.
This role provides a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the energy transition in the fast-growing green hydrogen space. As we are currently expanding our footprint in Germany along the full green hydrogen value chain: developing green hydrogen production projects, organizing hydrogen distribution, and developing a network of hydrogen refilling stations. You will develop green hydrogen production projects from scratch and be responsible for lead generation and commercial project development. You will be part of our global business development team and work side by side with experienced colleagues from both technical and commercial backgrounds.
Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities include:
- Create and maintain an overview of current and potential industrial and municipal demands for green hydrogen
- Contribute to generating leads for new production projects by talking to key players (e.g. in off-take industries, economic development offices), participating in sector meetings and preparing discussion materials
- Assess the business case for using green hydrogen from the off-taker perspective (e.g. in refining, municipalities, pulp and paper, etc.)
- Assess financial project viability by preparing excel-based commercial models for hydrogen production and supply
- Contribute to writing applications for funding schemes at the EU, national and state level
- Support the preparation of presentations and materials for senior management and external stakeholders
- Coordinate leads with business development colleagues, particularly from our “Mint Hydrogen” Refilling Station network
- Ensure all new knowledge is well-documented and available to colleagues
Desired expertise and skills
The role requires a broad skillset and will put high demands on your ability to leverage your analytical and interpersonal skills. In order to succeed in the role, we hope you have the following skills:
- B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related area with an excellent academic track record
- You are newly graduated or have a couple of years of experience in hands-on business development, a strategy consulting company, or similar positions in industry
- You have a structured and analytical way of working, are results-driven, and an able to work independently
- You’re a doer and enjoy engaging with people
- You possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders
- Previous experience in the green hydrogen industry is a plus
- Native/Bilingual in German is a must, excellent English (verbal and written) is also preferred. Other Nordic languages (Swedish, Danish, Finnish) are an asset.
