Equipment Service Technician

Position Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for a range of activities in the areas of plant and equipment start-up, testing, repair, and maintenance. The position requires the implementation of a broad range of organizational activities and technical "know how". This includes analyzing work orders and planning work sequences with consideration of interfaces. Furthermore, the job includes replacing individual parts, especially in case of damage, as well as retrofitting and calibrating systems and equipment. In addition, the equipment must be inspected and maintained at regular intervals. In order to properly perform the tasks, we provide the service technicians with laptops, tablets, diagnostic tools and workbenches equipped with measuring, testing and diagnostic systems.
Core tasks and responsibilities
- Commissioning: testing according to protocol, visual inspections, testing of mechanical and electrical connections, system pressure tests, battery capacity tests, preparation of equipment for delivery.
- Check and document function, safety, and quality in compliance with standards and specifications for quality and safety of systems.
- Maintenance: perform repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, documentation, and evaluation analysis.
- Repair, including retrofit software and hardware upgrades for existing fuel cells and other relevant products.
- Systematically troubleshoot and document root causes of faults and defects.
- Test, release, and hand over complex systems.
- Provide on-call and emergency support to customers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and experience
- Education or advanced training as a specialist with an electrical engineering background: automotive mechatronics technician, equipment technician, electrical engineer, etc.
- Three (3) or more years of direct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Specifically: read and apply part, group, and overall drawings. Read and apply schematics of assemblies and equipment. Read and apply electrical diagrams, block diagrams, functional diagrams, assembly diagrams and wiring diagrams. Make sketches and stucco lists when required. Also, in English language.
- Computer and software system skills as required for the position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and be creative in solving technical problems.
- Dynamic interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with various audiences and stakeholders at all levels.
- Advantageous to possess a valid forklift license and driver's license and be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
