As a member of Verizon’s Technology Strategy, Architecture & Planning team, you will drive standardization in the automotive and intelligent transportation ecosystems. As an external-facing standards delegate, you will shape and be the “Verizon Voice” in automotive industry groups (5GAA, ETSI ITS, SAE, GSMA Automotive ID, etc), and closely collaborate with experts in related standards groups (3GPP, ITU-R/ITU-T, Open RAN). This is a high visibility role with direct opportunity to contribute to improving road safety, efficiency and sustainability in collaboration with top auto-OEMs, tier-1s and other innovators while leveraging Verizon’s world-leading 5G Network.
Represent Verizon as an external industry (standards) delegate.
Improve utilization of 5G Network capabilities in automotive standards to improve road-safety, road efficiency and sustainability.
Actively partner with internal teams (corporate & tech strategy, public policy, business development, product, etc) to steer alignment with business objectives and direction
Analyze and define technology architectures to match strategic priorities and objectives, using data insights, and Verizon 5G capabilities (uRLLC, mMTC, C-V2X platforms, etc)
Advanced degree in relevant field (e.g. EE/CS)
4+ years of professional experience
Experience developing 4G/5G solutions for automotive, Connected Mobility or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in a R&D, product, or engineering capacity
Experience with C-V2X, for example: SAE [J3161, J2735], IEEE 1609/WAVE, 3GPP Rel-14+ C-V2X
Extensive 4G/5G wireless network technology experience
Strategic mindset with ability to quickly interpret and extract insights from data
Ability to clearly document, propose and iterate on technology architectures
Excellent communications skills
Excellent time-management and organizational skills
Collaborative mindset rooted in professionalism and integrity
Willingness to travel up to approximately 25-50% of the time (including international).
Experience as a wireless industry delegate or standardization engineer
IoT/Telematics certification groups: OmniAir, GCF, Global Platform, PTCRB
Automotive Wireless chipset and eSIM technology
5G Network slicing
5G “Advanced” capabilities and architecture
Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and ability to architecturally leverage
Python, R, or modern scripting languages
Regulatory and public policy for intelligent transportation systems and C-V2X
