The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences 1 invites applications for a
PhD position (m/f/d)
in the DFG-funded Integrated Research Training Group of the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC)
SNP2Prot "Plant Proteoform Diversity".
The position is funded from 1 October 2024 to 30 June 2028 in part time (65 %). Salaries will be according to
Entgeldgruppe 13 TV-L, depending on the assigned tasks and individual qualifications.
Tasks:
- Experimental research within the framework of the SNP2Prot subproject B01 - Natural allelic variation of
PI4P 5-kinases modulating plasma membrane processes in plants
- Generation of cDNA constructs for substitution variants of Arabidopsis PI4P 5-kinases
- Heterologous expression and purification of recombinant proteins
- In vitro biochemical characterization of recombinant proteins, including radiolabeling
- Analysis of protein-protein or protein-lipid interactions
- Presentation and publication of scientific data
The opportunity to obtain your own academic qualification as part of a doctorate is given.
Requirements:
- An excellent MSc degree (or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, or related subjects
- A strong interest in protein function and plant membrane biology
- Experience with cDNA modification and molecular biology
- Experience with expression and enrichment of recombinant proteins
- Excellent English language skills (written and spoken)
- Highly motivated to work in a cooperative manner within the CRC
