The IZKF Proteomics Facility is seeking a researcher for a
Bioinformatics position (f/m/d)
The fulltime position (38,5 h/week) is available starting as soon as possible and would be on a fixed-term contract initially until 30th June 2026.
As a Bioinformatics Specialist at the IZKF Proteomics Facility, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing and interpreting large-scale proteomic data. With access to state-of-the-art technology and a diverse range of projects, you will have the chance to work at the forefront of proteomic and clinical research and contribute to cutting-edge discoveries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert bioinformatics support and services to researchers, assisting them in analyzing and interpreting proteomic data
- Collaborate closely with researchers to understand their specific requirements and develop customized analysis strategies and pipelines
- Perform bioinformatics analysis of proteomic data, including preprocessing, quality control, differential expression analysis and data visualisation
- Assist in the implementation and optimization of existing bioinformatics tools and pipelines for efficient and accurate data analysis in the proteomic field
- Development of a novel phosphoproteomic analysis pipeline
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of bioinformatics workflows and methodologies to enhance data quality and analysis efficiency
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree or a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Proteomics or a related field with a strong focus on analysing large-scale data using bioinformatic approaches
- Proven experience (publications and/or thesis) in proteomic data analysis, including preprocessing, quality control, differential expression analysis and data visualisation. Familiarity with handling data from pipelines such as MaxQuant, MSFragger, ProteomeDiscoverer, DIA-NN
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as R and/or Python and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and packages, including knowledge on using Jupyter Notebook and Docker
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful biological insights
- Wet-lab experience, preferably in the field of organ work, cell culture or biological fluids
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work efficiently in an interdisciplinary environment
