The Chair of Computational Life Sciences of the International Research Unit Mathematics and Life Sciences is
looking to fill the following position as soon as possible, on a fixed-term contract for three years:

Scientific software developer at the interface of mathemat-
ics and life sciences (full or part time)

The Computational Life Sciences group develops and applies novel mathematical and computational approaches
as well as software tools for data analysis and modeling. The spectrum of applications includes oncology, immu-
nology, and epidemiology. We are intensively collaborating with world-leading experts in the respective fields as
well as in mathematics, and we are part of the excellence clusters ImmunoSensation2 and Hausdorff Center for
Mathematics at the University of Bonn. Our group has developed several open-source software packages and
repositories. We are committed to the FAIR principles and make all codes freely available.

Your tasks: • Development of software tools for efficient numerical simulation methods for dif-

ferential equations,

• Further development and optimization of the multi-language interface AMICI,

• Development of software tools for machine and federated learning.

Your profile: • University degree (master´s) and PhD degree or comparable experience computa-
tional biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related fields,

• Programming skills Python, and ideally C++ or Julia,

• Experience in at least some of the following fields: mathematical modelling, nu-

merical optimization, machine learning, and high-performance computing,

• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Interest in medical and life sciences topics.
