R&D Embedded Test Engineer (f/m/d) in Hornberg bei ABB
In this position, you will contribute ideas for innovative technology developments and solutions, working to solve industrial problems. Reporting to the ’Center of Excellence’ Leader Electronics, you will contribute creative ideas to R&D projects, as well as proposing follow-up projects and activities based on new ideas.
R&D Team Lead
- Develop detailed test plans to verify and validate the function of intelligent devices for factory automation
- Identify effective test strategies for new features being delivered to customers.
- Build and manage automated test suites for real-time embedded systems, develop test cases according to the specification
- Making judgments and contributing to results through an understanding of the key business drivers for ABB
- Ensuring alignment with targets and coordinating activities
- Participating in working teams, disseminating technical/scientific knowledge in projects, and assisting colleagues in applying processes and tools
- Participating in networks to expand knowledge of the targeted area of expertise
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years work experience as an embedded test engineer or software test engineer within an electrotechnical environment with testing on hardware
- Knowledge of LabView, Python, Version Control (Git/Subversion)
- Experience building Automated Test Systems for real-time embedded systems
- Exposure to a wide variety of test and automation systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, data acquisition and I/O devices (i.e., pogo-pins, temperature controllers, current and power meters, PLCs, etc.)
- Relevant competence in Configuration Management, Scrum/Agile Development, Continuous Integration/DevOps
- A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
- Solid understanding of software and programming best practices
- Familiarity with electronic circuits. Experience with higher voltage environments (up to 1kV) is preferred but not required
