German Bionic, with headquarters in Augsburg and locations in Berlin, Boston and Tokyo, is the first German company to develop, manufacture and market smart and connected exoskeletons for industrial use and logistics workplaces. We are looking for a Linux Software Engineer (m/w/x) to join our R&D team in Augsburg.

Tasks and responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will hold a pivotal role in advancing the German Bionic OS—a Linux-based foundation underpinning all our products. Collaborating within an agile, cross-functional team, you will focus on the implementation and maintenance of customer-oriented features, as well as the facilitation of data intelligence and machine learning for our Cloud-native applications. Employing cutting-edge technologies, you will exhibit a keen attention to detail across all aspects of the development process, ensuring a robust and reliable implementation. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the ongoing enhancement of our software solutions, ultimately fostering a superior user experience for our clients. Requirements for the role

• Your heart beats for Linux and you already peeked in its darker corners.
• You have excellent experience in Go or comparable languages like C/C++ or Rust.
• You know your way in the shell and know how to write and debug Bash scripts.
• You can share a fair amount of stories on how important proper error handling is.
• You know network protocols like HTTP or gRPC and know how to secure and fail proof them on IoT devices.
• You know common interfaces like GPIO, SPI, UART and some hardware basics.
• You are passionate about your software craftsmanship, you have a ton of curiosity and you enjoy learning with and from others.
• You know what it means to work agile and know that SCRUM is not the only choice.
• You have excellent spoken and written English skills, German is a plus.
• Having worked with Yocto or similar tools is a plus.
