GE’s worldwide HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford, provides complete turn-key solutions for the rapidly-growing global HVDC market. Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Test Laboratories and R&D located in Stafford, Berlin and Noida.
You will be part of a team that defines and completes the hardware requirements and testing of an HVDC control system as part of a project delivery team.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Integration of Control & Protection system with all the Sub-system and Real Time digital Simulation
- Providing Technical Support and participate in installation and testing of control & protection system
- Creating and carrying out test procedures
- Investigating problems and diagnosing and repairing faults
- Ensuring that equipment works to its specification.
- inspection, installation and safe power up the equipment,
- Loading of software and firmware
- Equipment Configuration ( e.g Network switches)
- Primary and secondary injections
- Electrical circuit and relay logic testing
- Troubleshooting and recover errors
- Wiring of control cubicle
- Fibre & cabling installation
- Prepare technical and test specifications and associated test reports
- Maintain Lab EHS ensuring safe working conditions in the RTDS lab environment
- Comply with local EHS guidelines and company EHS to ensure safe working practices and environment
- Review system as-built documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports of accomplished tasks and exception
- Support in creation of control hardware System architecture for test Platform.
- Support in maintaining calibration of Test Equipment
- Comply with all Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes, reporting and/or resolving any non-conformances in a timely manner
Desired Characteristics:
- Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics & Electrical or RTDS lab testing related field.
- Experience in working with Substations
- Knowledge of 61850 protocol
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral
- Experience in working in a team/ project environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Must possess strong attention to detail
- Require systematic troubleshooting skills and judgment and problem solving skills to resolve diverse projects
- Must be willing to learn and be trained and strive to do better
- Strong oral and written communication
- Must be able to work under pressure of customer and Project Manager(s) and complete tasks in line with Project Schedules
- Must be able to work overtime when required
- Required to follow and understand work rules and procedures
- Knowledge of local EHS safety guidelines
- Must be able to exhibit logic and troubleshooting skills
- Required to travel a minimum of 5% (International)
- Must conform at all times to customer’s safety and cleanliness policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- German speaking and fluent in English.
