- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field, and in your penultimate year of study.
- Experience in conducting user research.
- Returning to your degree after completing the internship.
- Experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
- Understanding of the durability and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
- Knowledge of statistics and the principles of experiment design.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
The User Experience team gathers insights and uses them to inspire and inform design. We are a multi-disciplinary team of Interaction Designers, Visual Designers, User Researchers, Copywriters, and Web Developers who collaborate closely with each other and with Engineering and Product Management to create innovative, usable products. UX Researchers cultivate an understanding of what people need and want from products and services, while also evaluating user experience.
In this role, you'll conduct independent research, analyze real user behavior, and work with User Experience Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers in order to improve and develop product features. Your work will span across all of Google's products, and you'll be encouraged to identify opportunities for user experience improvements. We strive to connect users to the magic of our products, and you will work to make that connection intuitive and accessible.
This internship is intended for students in their penultimate year of an accredited full-time degree program in the EMEA region who will be returning to their degree program after the completion of the internship. Participation in the internship program requires that you are located in one of the specific country locations identified for this role for the duration of the internship program. Interns will be required to be available to work full-time for a minimum of 13 weeks over the Summer 2024 for the duration of the program.
