At the Faculty of Business and Economics, the Chair of Economics, esp. International Monetary
Economics offers a position as
Research Associate / PhD student (m/f/x)
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
for 3 years.The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act
(Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position entails 75% of the fulltime weekly hours,
starting January 1, 2024. The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually PhD).
Tasks: You will research problems in the field of international monetary economics, in particular
financial stability, monetary policy, exchange rates or international financial markets and write
research papers on these topics. We offer you the opportunity to present your research at
international conferences. The writing of a cumulative dissertation is a central part of your tasks. In
addition, you will teach courses, supervise theses, and participate in academic self-governance.
Requirements: You have completed your university studies in economics (or a related field) with
above-average results and have very good knowledge of quantitative methods as well as experience
with common statistical software (e.g. STATA). You are interested in researching issues in the field of
international monetary economics and would like to do a PhD in this area. You have a high degree of
initiative, very good English skills and very good analytical thinking skills.
