We are searching for a scientist with internationally visible achievements in complex data acquisition systems for experiments in fundamental and/or applied research. You will develop an ambitious research program in one or more of the following areas:
and will actively contribute to the development of the future research directions of the institute.
KIT offers a unique environment with a broad research spectrum on cryogenic sensors and quantum computing, and with its participation in large experiments in particle and astroparticle physics (i.a. CMS, LHCb, Belle II, FCC, KATRIN, Auger).
The IPE is a leader in the development of readout and control systems for superconducting quantum sensors and qubits and in cutting-edge instrumentation for experiments in particle and astroparticle physics. Beyond this, particular emphasis is placed on the development of intelligent electronics and systems-on-chip, and on technology transfer. The institute operates unique infrastructures and laboratories and is integrated into the Helmholtz Research Fields Matter, Information and Energy.
KIT offers you an excellent interdisciplinary environment at the interface of natural sciences and engineering. You will cooperate closely with colleagues at the center of excellence KCETA and the doctoral school KSETA and will have a wide range of opportunities for establishing new collaborations at KIT and beyond. You will continue the successful acquisition of third-party funding and will access new funding sources in future research topics.
You will work in the „Großforschung” mission of KIT, and will thus profit directly from the manifold possibilities provided by the resources and infrastructure of the institute and its partners at KIT. The teaching obligation is 2 semester hours per week. Appropriate contributions to mandatory and elective lectures, seminars and other courses in physics or electrical engineering and the supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD theses is expected.
This research center is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. With more than 42,000 employees and an annual budget of over € 5 billion, the Helmholtz Association is Germany's largest scientific organisation.
The Helmholtz Association contributes to solving major challenges to assure the future of our society. With more than 39,000 people on staff in 18 national research centres, the Helmholtz Association is Germany’s largest scientific organization. The name Helmholtz stands for concerted research in which networks form the key principle behind inquiring thought and action. Concerted research is efficient and flexible.
The profile of the Helmholtz Association
The Helmholtz Association performs cutting-edge research which contributes substantially to solving the grand challenges of science, society and industry. To succeed in meeting these responsibilities, Helmholtz concentrates its work in six research fields: Energy, Earth and Environment, Health, Key Technologies, Matter, as well as Aeronautics, Space and Transport. Within each of these fields, research programs are developed by our scientists and regularly evaluated by renowned international experts. Their evaluation forms the basis for the programme-oriented funding that is allocated to Helmholtz research. Within the six research fields, Helmholtz scientists cooperate with each other and with external partners – working across disciplinary, organizational and national borders.
