Overview:
GovCIO is currently hiring for a Network Engineer to support DoD organizations and USAFRICOM. This position will be located in Stuttgart Germany and will be an onsite only position.
Responsibilities:
Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
- Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers
- Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
- Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
- Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment and devices.
- Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
- Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
- Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

Network Design and Implementation:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design network solutions accordingly.
- Deploy and configure network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Network Security:
- Implement and maintain network security protocols to protect against unauthorized access and security breaches.
- Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and implement security measures to safeguard data.
- Stay current on industry best practices and emerging security threats.
Network Troubleshooting and Optimization:
- Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity, performance, and reliability problems.
- Conduct regular network performance assessments and implement optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with vendors and support teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and processes.
- Generate regular reports on network performance, security incidents, and capacity planning.
- Provide clear and concise documentation for network troubleshooting and resolution procedures.
Network Monitoring and Management:
- Implement and maintain network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential issues.
- Respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Perform routine network audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's with 12+ years (or commensurate experience)
Clearance required : Secret
Required Skills and Experience
- BA/BS + 7 years recent specialized or AA/AS + 9 years recent specialized or a major cert + 11 years recent specialized or 13 years of recent specialized experience
- DOD 8570 IAT 3 compliance.
- Active Secret Clearance, and ability acquire TS/SCI clearance.
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or a similar role.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications are a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
