The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is the largest solar research institute in Europe. Our around 1,400 employees work for a sustainable, economical, safe and socially fair energy supply system based on renewable energies. We contribute to this with our research priorities of energy supply, energy distribution, energy storage and energy use. Through outstanding research results, successful industrial projects, spin-off companies and global cooperation, we shape the sustainable transformation of the energy system.
For our groups "laser process technology" and "laser system construction" we are permanently looking for scientific assistants for the process implementation, developement and characterization.
Would you like to actively help shape the energy transition and gain practical experience during your studies? The "laser process technology" and "laser system construction" groups deal with a large number of different applications from laser technology to the production of important components for the energy transition with a focus on solar cells and modules made of silicon and other semiconductors. A main focus is the development, implementation, characterization, modeling and simulation of laser material processing in the areas of structuring, removal, dicing, joining and surface modification. Another focus is the development of suitable system technology. We work in our own laboratory with the most modern laser systems and more than 30 different beam sources. You can find more information about our work topics in here.
What you will do
- You work on scientific projects.
- You support us in carrying out standardized laser material processing for the production of solar cells.
- You will be involved in the implementation of characterization procedures for process control.
- Your tasks also include the programming of systems.
- You relieve us in the construction of laboratory structures.
You will work with us on sample preparation and data analysis.
What you bring to the table
- You have a high interest in laser technology in particular and/or optical technologies in general.
- You are studying a scientific, engineering or comparable subject. You are preferably at the beginning of your studies and are based in Freiburg or the surrounding area.
- Experience in careful, practical work in the laboratory is desirable.
- You have basic knowledge of solar cells and semiconductor physics and are already familiar with laser technologies.
- You have basic Python programming skills.
- It is important to you to get involved in the team and to achieve goals together as a team.
- You find it easy to listen attentively to others and to work on tasks assigned to you independently.
- It is easy for you to present work that you have carried out independently.
